The Hayfield football team couldn’t survive a rash of injuries as it fell to Triton (4-4 overall) by a score of 42-6 in its regular season finale in Hayfield Wednesday.
The Vikings (0-8 overall, 0-8 HVL) pulled to within 14-6 when Cole Kruger found Dillon Wagner on a nine-yard scoring strike with 4:52 left in the third quarter, but the Cobras took over from that point.
“We’re down to 17 healthy kids and it’s not good,” Hayfield head coach Grant Klennert said. “We’re so wounded right now and it’s killing us.”
Hayfield will open the Section 2AA playoffs on the road Tuesday at 7 p.m.
