Dr. Samuel Selzer, 88, of Eagan, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away Nov. 5, 2011. Preceded in death by his wife Esther. Survived by children: Francine (Daniel) Cross, Andrea (Jack) Silverman, Julie (John Dziura) Selzer and David (Ellen) Selzer; grandchildren: Ben Cross, Abby Silverman, Ellie Silverman and Sarah Selzer.
Born and raised in New York City, Sam proudly served in United States Army during World War II. He returned to earn his bachelor’s degree at Hunter College, New York City, and his master’s and doctorate degrees in psychology at the University of Houston, Texas. He met and married the love of his life Esther before leaving New York City. Together after graduation they moved to Albert Lea and raised four children. Sam worked as a clinical psychologist and clinic director for 33 years at the Mental Health Center and was professor of psychology at Lea College for eight years.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Temple, 1300 Summit Ave., St. Paul. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Mount Zion Temple’s listening library or the Sholom Home.
