Alice L. Glasser, 87, of Austin, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Our House Memory Care, Austin.
Alice Louise Benson was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Minneota, Minn., to Melvin and Virginia (Appleby) Benson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minneota. She graduated from Minneota High School in 1942, then married Forrest Glasser on June 20, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In 1964, the couple moved to Austin. Alice worked all her adult life for various companies and started at Hormel in the payroll department in July 1970. She retired in August 1985. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and taking trips to the casino.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth (Virgil) Fry of Austin; sister-in-law, Mary Benson of Stockton, Calif.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Virginia; husband, Forrest in 1998; one sister, Margaret Nord; brothers, Willard and Harold Hall; special friend, Robert Placek.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with Rev. Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday before the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
