Blooming Prairie girls drop opener

The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team couldn’t take care of the ball as it dropped its opener 63-55 to Kenyon-Wanamingo (1-0 overall) in BP Tuesday.
The Awesome Blossoms (0-1 overall) had 42 turnovers, which offset their 52-28 rebounding advantage in the loss.
BP trailed by 17 late in the game when it came up with a 12-0 run as it pulled to within 55-50.
“We had them reeling a little. We didn’t quit and we kept hammering away,” BP head coach John Worke said.
Three players had strong varsity debuts for BP as freshman center Taylor Hagen had 16 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots, junior Shelbi Swenson had 16 points and five steals, and freshman Madison Worke had 11 points.
