June A. Bernatz, 84, of Austin, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

June was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Dodge County, Minn., to Floyd and Bernice (Brandli) Petersen. She graduated from Byron High School. On Jan. 23, 1948, she married Phillip Bernatz in Rochester. The couple moved to the Austin area where June worked for the Hormel Company for 41 years. In 1961, they moved to a farm east of Austin where she continued to live. June was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. She enjoyed her family and many friends, activities that took her outdoors and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her sons, Phillip Bernatz Jr., Austin, Thomas (Beverly) Bernatz, St. Joseph, Timothy (Joy) Bernatz, Austin; two grandsons, Scott (Holly) Bernatz, St. Michael, Trent (Melissa) Bernatz, Hastings; four great-grandchildren, Ava, Owen, Grant and Liam; sister, Gail Berge, Kasson; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip; one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
