Though the Lyle Public School board’s agenda isn’t published, the board will have much to discuss Tuesday night.

Former board member Scott Nelson retired last month as his family is moving to Austin, according to his wife Colleen Nelson. The board is expected to address the vacancy.

Board members certified the recent election results in a special session last Thursday. Lyle’s referendum passed on Nov. 8 with 228 yes votes to 138 no votes.

The board has been mired in controversy for the better part of this year after hiring Lyle Principal Jim Dusso as Superintendent last spring. Residents are torn over Dusso’s leadership and critics and supporters alike have made their views known at board meetings in recent months.

The board adjourned early at September’s meeting after board member Dan King tried to read from a letter addressed to him by the board taking him to task for his outspoken beliefs about Dusso.
