Marilyn Kruger Brazell, 71, formerly of Blooming Prairie, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, in Albany, Ga.
She was born March 29, 1940, in Blooming Prairie, Minn., to Clayton and Clara (Nelson) Kruger. Marilyn graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1958 and then attended Mankato State College where she earned a degree in English. She also had a minor in art, graduating from Mankato State in 1961. She taught English for three years in Wells, Minn., as well as one year in Pipestone, Minn. She met her husband, David Brazell, in Pipestone and they married in 1965. In 1966, they moved to the East Coast and lived in various parts of the country until 1979 when they moved to Albany. Marilyn worked in retail for many years; first as a clerk, then as a department manager and a store manager.
Survivors include her two children, son David Brazell of Albany; daughter, Tricia (John) Cole of Summerville, S.C.; grandsons, Nicholas and Ethan Cole; brother, Roger (Karen) Kruger of Austin; two sisters, Sharon Kruger and Barbara Born, both of St. Paul; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Brazell and her parents, Clayton and Clara Kruger.
A Memorial gathering was held in Albany, Ga., on Nov. 5, 2011, for friends and family. Interment is at First Lutheran Cemetery, Blooming Prairie. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
