Maxon Leonard Crumb, 89, of Austin, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
He was born Dec. 2, 1921, in New Richland, Minn., to Winfred and Mary (Chicos) Crumb. Max served in the Army in 1943 and 1944. He married Isabel Reistad on Aug. 10, 1946, in New Richland. On Aug. 10, 2011, Max and Isabel celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary with their Family.
Max was the Manager of Hunting Elevator in Matawan and Lansing for 34 years and enjoyed farming in his retirement years. He was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Brownsdale, Minn., for more than 50 years. Max was a wonderful brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel Crumb; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy (Judy) Crumb, Jim (Barb) Crumb, Becky Crumb; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Farnham, Jane (Tim) Gavin, Katy (David) Kallemeyn; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rich and Bill Crumb; sisters, Genelle Bergerson and Sister Janel Crumb.
He is preceded in death by his son, Mark Crumb; parents; brothers, Jack, Tim, Harvey, Charles, Thornton and Robert Crumb; sisters, Margaret Rollenhagen, Dorothy Bungarden and Janice Downhour.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Brownsdale with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in New Richland with military rites by American Legion Post 75.
