Ruth Loretta Shane, 89 of Taopi, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011.
A life long resident of the area, Ruth was born March 8, 1922, in Grand Meadow, Minn., to Floyd and Loretta Robb. Ruth was married to Robert A. Shane on April 24, 1940, at Grand Meadow.
Ruth was a mother to all and loved to sit at her table and watch the birds. She was a great cook and loved having company on Sundays. She also enjoyed puzzles. Aside from being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a homemaker, gardener, farmer and a great cook, known for her sauerkraut and dumplings. She said, “I loved my family, raised my kids, raised my garden and chickens”.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; two sons, Johnny and Gene; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by daughters and sons-in-law; Shirley and Paul Jarcho, Minneapolis, Jacqueline Shane, Salinas, Calif., Donna and Mike Kilby, Austin, Minn., Connie and Richard Kruse, Meyer, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, David Shane, Casper, Wyo., Bill and Connie Shane, Baraboo, Wis., Tom and Leah Shane, Zumbrota, Minn., Richard Shane, Taopi, Mary Shane, Riceville, Iowa; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adams, with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and at the church on Monday morning for one hour before the service. The family prefers memorials.
