Shirley Cleone Earl, 87 of Austin, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.
Shirley was born Aug. 23, 1924, at New Richland, Minn., the daughter of Walter and Irene (Fuller) Laudert. She graduated from the New Richland high school and for two years worked as a welder in the San Francisco shipyards. Following the war she returned to the New Richland area and attended Beauty School in Mankato, Minn. She moved to Austin and was married to Robert L. Earl. The Earls owned and operated the Turf Bar and later the Colonial Bar in Austin.
Shirley was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed counted cross stitching, playing cards, and she was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband and sister, Lois Haack.
Shirley is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Ruth Earl, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra J. and Ritchie Petersen, Rochester, Minn.; step-daughter, Judith L. Anderson and Lou Becerra, Kent, Wash.; grandchildren, Brian E. and Jessica Petersen Rochester, Eric M. and Rachel Petersen, Rochester; great-grandchildren, Ella Petersen and Zachary Petersen; brother, Harvey W. Laudert, New Hope, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Pam Aandahl Solberg officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
