Vincent L. Pieper, 84, of Rose Creek, died Thursday evening, Nov. 3, 2011, at his home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Newhall, Iowa, to Louis and Marie (Spratte) Pieper. As a small boy, Vincent’s family moved to the Rose Creek area, where he attended Catholic school. On June 14, 1947, Vincent married Viola Hanson in Austin. Viola passed away in 1990. On Feb. 14, 1995, Vince married Rita Janka. Rita passed away in 1999. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer and was a laborer for the George A. Hormel Company for more than 30 years. His pastime was his work. He took vacation time to take the crops out. A man with strong faith, Vincent was an excellent father who was devoted to his children. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was an avid reader. He took good care of his kids and his tractors.

Survivors include his children, Juanita Young of Austin, Vincent Jr (Carolyn) Pieper of Austin, Lawrance (Kathy) Pieper of Rose Creek, Louis (Nancy) Pieper of Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa (Phil) Kitzman of Hurley, Wis., Betty Jean Spratte of Vinton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie; first wife, Viola; second wife, Rita; two brothers and one sister.

A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Fr. Ruben Spinler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice program in Austin. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
