A woman lying on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis on Thursday morning died after being hit by multiple vehicles, according to the State Patrol.
The incident, which happened shortly after 6:30 a.m., closed three lanes of eastbound I-94 north of 7th St., snarling the morning commute.
Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske said that the woman walked onto the freeway and into the traffic lanes, lay down and then was struck by multiple vehicles. By the time troopers arrived at the scene, the woman had been struck by at least two vehicles and was dead.
It appeared to be an intentional act, according to witnesses — “and our dispatchers were monitoring [the scene] on freeway cameras,” Roeske said.
The woman’s identity has not been released.
