The Austin girls basketball team couldn’t keep up with No. 9 ranked Red Wing (4-1 overall) as it lost 65-42 in Ove Berven Gym Tuesday.
The Packers (0-2 overall) hit just 22 percent of their field goal attempts and they struggled to score throughout the night.
“In spurts we played well, but we just weren’t consistent enough,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said.
Austin trailed 36-25 at the break, but its defense couldn’t hold off the Wingers early in the second half.
“We just had some breakdowns on defense. We weren’t always getting back on our press,” Peterson said.
