An Adams woman was injured Wednesday night when her Dodge Caravan hit a horse on Highway 56.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said 68-year-old Sharon Osmundson thought she hit a deer, but Mower County Sheriff’s deputies found the horse in the ditch 85 feet from the crash site. The horse, which belongs to Shirley and Don Dreyer, was dead.
Osmundson was driving west on Highway 56 near Taopi when she hit the animal, Amazi said. Osmundson was taken by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with leg injuries.
