Austin finds some good in lopsided loss to Simley

Eliminate an ugly first period, and the Austin boys hockey team did exactly what coach Tim Peterson has been looking for Tuesday night.
Simley jumped to a 5-0 lead after one period en route to a 9-3 win at the Waseca Tournament.
“We just didn’t show up that first period,” Peterson said. “After that we decided to play.”
Behind two goals from Ethan Larson and a third from Preston Moe, the Packers were able to hold Simley to a 4-3 score for the final two periods.
“Ethan had a fantastic game,” Peterson said. “He played all three periods and we used him as an example.
“I don’t like moral victories, but at the same time, the way things have been going lately, I’ll take it.”
The Packers fall to 2-6-0.
