Cheryl (Sheri) A. (Shupe) Day, 54 of Austin, died Wednesday morning Dec. 14, 2011, at her home in Austin.
Sheri was born April 21, 1957, in Marshfield, Wis., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Hein) Shupe. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1975 and from the St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1979 as a registered nurse. Sheri was married to Thomas R. Day on Aug. 8, 1981, in Spencer, Wis.
Sheri was a homemaker, mother and registered nurse. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, taught Wednesday School and helped facilitate the Book it Club. Sheri was also active with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.
She participated in three mission trips, was co-chair of Project Graduation for two years and active with the football parents group for four years.
Sheri was an avid sports fan, especially as a fan of the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed reading and loved to cook for others. Sheri enjoyed volunteering and made cookies weekly for the AHS football team from 2002 to 2007 and for the UWEC BluGold football team from 2005 to 2008. She especially enjoyed traveling with family and friends and spending quiet times at the lake in northern Wisconsin.
She is survived by her husband Tom Day, Austin; sons: Matthew Day, Rodgers, Ark., Dan (Noelle) Day, Madison, Wis.; brothers: Dave (Sue) Shupe, Spencer, Wis., Mark (Jeanne) Shupe, Mosinee, Wis.
Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth Shupe.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sheri Day Scholarship Fund or to the Hormel Institute.
