Doris V. Moen, 87, formerly of Austin, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Golden Living Center East in Rochester.
She was born Feb. 25, 1924, to Gilbert and Mabel (Wilson) Edgar in Oslo, Minn., where she grew up. Doris graduated from Hayfield High School in 1942. She married Clarence Moen on Nov. 14, 1946, in Hayfield. They made their home in Austin where Doris worked at the FW Woolworth store on Main Street. A member and active volunteer of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Doris also gave of her time at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, sewing club, camping, traveling, attending mystery bus tours with the senior center and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori (Steven) Ormand of Rochester; son, Allen Moen of Greenwood, Ind.; three grandchildren, Bryan, Christopher and Lisa; four great-grandchildren, Giselle, Blake, Anthony Jr. and Gabriel; one sister, LaVain (James) Ranvek of Kasson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Mabel Edgar; husband, Clarence; two brothers, Clayton and Sherman Edgar.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
