Daryl Gullickson checks the weight of the city’s contribution to the city vs. county food drive at the Mower County Recycling Center Friday afternoon.
While the county gathered a total of 1,152 pounds of food compared to the city’s 876 pounds, the city won the good-natured contest with 5.91 pounds per employee compared to the county’s 4.902 pounds of food per employee. Combined the two sides gathereed 2,028 pounds of food for the Salvation Army.
“The real winners are the hungry in the city and Mower County,” said mayor Tom Stiehm. “It’s a better holiday because of this.”
