The Lyle-Pacelli boys basketball team couldn’t cope without some of its most experienced players as it saw a late lead slip away in a loss at Schaeffer Academy (2-0 overall, 2-0) by a score of 64-61 Tuesday.

The Athletics (0-2 overall, 0-1 SEC) led by as many as 13 and they held a five-point lead late in the game.

But L-P played the last five minutes of the game without David Diang, who scored 15, and Skylar Meyer, who scored five. The team was also missing its only senior in Max Brennan, who was out with a concussion.

L-P was able to stay in the game with its freshman guards Jordan Hart, who scored 12 points, and Jonah Rohne, who had 11 ponts.

“I was really impressed with how those two played,” L-P head coach Casey Anderson said. “
