Strong second half lifts Austin, 56-43 over Kingsland

Austin was able to claim its second win of the season in girls basketball action Tuesday, defeating Kingsland at the Tiger Classic in Albert Lea, 56-43.

Jenna Svoboda hit for 12 points with 12 rebounds and four steals for the Packers who improved to 2-6 on the season.

Austin led 27-18 after the opening half.

“We were slow starting the second half,” head coach Gary Peterson said. “But we did have an 18-point lead at one time.

“This was a nice win coming back from the holidays.”

The Packers got 10 points from Taylor Lady and Stephanie Justice and Babaye Oja each chipped in nine points. Oja had four assists.

Austin will face Albert Lea Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
