Thanks for help with tuba show

Austin’s second annual Merry Tuba Christmas concert was held at the Oak Park Mall on Saturday, Dec. 3, and it was a huge success!
This free program was brought to the community in partnership with the Austin Park and Recreation Department, Valerie Pitzen, Shan Kehret, Oak Park Mall management, and the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
We were so fortunate to have 28 excellent musicians play their tubas, sousaphones, euphoniums and baritones for an audience that filled the entire mall center court. We’d like to thank the great players who ranged in ages 11 to 79 years young.
We’d also like to thank our conductor, Jane Orvik, recently retired music instructor from Southland Schools, who returned again this year to lead the concert. Many thanks to several Austin businesses and merchants who gave generous donations this year to make this free concert a reality. The date has already been set for next year’s Tuba Christmas, so mark Saturday, Dec. 1 on your calendars.
