Bob Cummings, 57, of Austin passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Bob married the love of his life, Paulette Gerber, 35 years ago. They were blessed with three sons: Bryan, Brad and Brent. Family was his highest priority; he always put his wife and boys first. He was known as a loving, supportive and generous man. He never hesitated to assist others as a friend and mentor. He was admired for being kind, patient, even-tempered and honest. Bob partnered with his wife, sons, nephews, neighbors and extended family and friends in many projects as a skilled builder, painter and mechanic. He completed every project he started with unique perfection. Bob was known as being a meticulous, creative and diligent craftsmen. Many have benefited from knowing and learning from him.
He held a special place in his heart for his new grandson, Nicklas, as well as all his nieces and nephews.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, Paulette and sons, Bryan, wife Heather, Brad and Brent, his mother, Mary Frances; sister, Elaine Lane and many friends of all ages. Bob is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat (Tom) Higgins, Pat Halverson, Pam (Terry) Fogal, Bev (Mark) Clennon, Barb (Randy) Kvam, Betty (Mark) Erickson.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Lloyd; brother, John (Shorty); along with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Donna Gerber.
A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes and Father Greg Leif officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Tuesday (tonight) at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
