Christina Kelch, 95, of Austin died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Adams Health Care Center in Adams.

Christina Weikum was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Virgil, S.D., to William and Katherine (Heckenliable) Weikum. She grew up in Virgil and graduated from Virgil High School. On Nov. 5, 1939, Christina married Myron Haney at St. John’s Parsonage in Austin. They had three children before Myron passed away in 1961. In 1963, Christina married Sylvester Kelch. They later divorced. Christina enjoyed crocheting and walking, and owned a resort in Pelican Rapids for several years.

Survivors include her children, Janet Lowe and Robert Haney, both of Austin, and June (Doug) Berg of Sheridan, Montana; seven grandchildren, Don Lowe, Todd Lowe, Michael Haney, Penny Haney, Dylan Berg, Christina Jessen, Jesse Berg; 13 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sister Marie Roberts of Medford, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Katherine; husband Myron Haney; four brothers Paul, Happy, William, and Robert; four sisters Elsie Flaherty, Emma Nemitz, Edna Hanson, and Clara Sykes; granddaughter Tori Kosberg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with Reverend Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
