The Austin Bruins will play at Riverside Arena for at least three more years.
Austin City Council members voted Tuesday night to approve a three-year contract with the Bruins for Riverside Arena rental.
Park and Recreation Director Kim Underwood said Bruins owner Craig Patrick approached her about extending the contract length.
“Currently we’re in a contract and it seems to be going quite well,” Underwood said.
Patrick said game attendance has grown, but the team is looking to still increase that number and gain more local business support.
“Our attendance has grown a lot, and we’ve had a lot more fans this year,” said Patrick. “It takes awhile to establish any business, and we’re working on all fronts to give Austin something to be proud of.”
The Bruins’ contract will go through March 2015.
