Douglas J. Kamp, 58 of Austin, Minn., passed away on Saturday morning, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health Care System in Austin.
He was born on April 3, 1953, in Austin, to Vernon and Mildred (Steile) Kamp. Doug grew up in the Brownsdale area and attended school in Brownsdale and Hayfield. He worked as a caretaker at many facilities and later moved back to Austin. Doug enjoyed playing darts, pool, driving his scooter around town and watching all sports on TV.
Survivors include two daughters and one son; eight sisters: Joyce (Clifford) Carlson of St. Paul, Jean Thompson of Forest City, Iowa, Marjorie Distad of Albert Lea, Patricia (Bernard) Schaefer and Rita (Arnold) Earl, both of Austin, Linda (Jerry) Meyer of Pepin, Wis., Karen (John) Torvik of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Debra (Leonard) Wood of Owatonna; three brothers, Charles of Hooks, Texas, Keith and Scott (Denise) both of Austin; three sisters-in-law, Jeri Kamp and Mary Kamp, both of Austin, Virginia Kamp of Forest City, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Mildred, one sister and five brothers.
Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be no reviewal or visitation. Memorials are preferred to the family.
