Florentina K. Frein, 88

Florentina K. “Flossy” Frein, age 88, of Austin, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Samartian Bethany in Rochester.
Flossy was born Feb. 18, 1923, in Topeka, Kans. to Andrew and Elizabeth Allas. The family moved to Austin when she was a child. Flossy met John Frein of Austin and they married on June 28, 1947. In 1955 they bought a small farm and moved to Adams where they raised 11 children. The family moved back to austin in 1972.
Flossy enjoyed endless hours of cooking, baking, gardening and canning for her children and grandchildren. She was truly a loving teacher and mentor for her family and friends. Flossy truly lives on in those who know her.
Survivors include 11 children, Dave (Gail) Frein, Austin, Helen (Greg) Coffman, Wabasha, Chuck (Marianne) Frein, Austin, Steve (Marietta) Frein, Plainview, Gary (Julie) Frein, Grand Meadow, Ed (Maureen) Frein, Battle Creek, Mich., Pat (Larry) Wobschall, Austin, Kathy Meyer (Sam Shelling), Byron, Mary (Mike) Kepp, Rochester, Sharon (Tom) Wobschall, Austin, Judy (Tim) Monson, Elgin; 30 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; brother, Sylvester Allas, Austin.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John on Dec. 17, 2008.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. There will be a 4:30 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
