Marian Strong, 76, of Blooming Prairie, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at her home.
Marian Joyce Wilson was born March 17, 1935, in Decorah, Iowa, to Virgil and Palma (Johnson) Wilson. On Nov. 10, 1955, Marian married Carl Strong in Dubuque, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Lansing, Iowa, then settled in Onalaska, Wis. It was there that Carl died and the family moved to Blooming Prairie in 1969. Marian worked as a nurse’s aide at Prairie Manor Nursing Home for more than 30 years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and enjoyed crocheting, taking walks and working with flowers and plants.
Survivors include a son, Carl Strong, Blooming Prairie; daughter, Susan Strong, Owatonna; two grandchildren, Ed and Mark Strong, three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Iva, and Desteny; brother, Gordon (Elaine) Berge, Waterville, sisters-in-law, Gladys Triggs, Waukon, Iowa, Loretta Strong, Lansing, Iowa, nieces, nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at the First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Rev. Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may call at the Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa, at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
