The Austin dance team took first in the high kick and jazz in the six-team invite at Henry Sibley Saturday.

“We worked over Christmas break to change choreography where needed in both routines, which takes a lot of time,” Austin head coach Jen Sims said. “We were frustrated by our December scores in kick height and form and knew we needed to focus there as well to earn better scores. Our scores went up as we’d hoped, but we still have work to do in this area for our bigger tournaments coming up.”

The Packers’ JV team also took first in high kick and jazz and it was the first time they had competed in jazz this season.

The Packer dance team held a “kicks for cash” fundraiser for ARC of Mower County in December. The team divided into small teams and competed in kicking and after an hour and a half the winning team had 979 kicks.

The dance team was able to turn over a check $1,800 to ARC with the funds it raised.
