The Austin gymnastics team set a season’s best mark and school record with a score of 143.15 as they finished fourth out of the top-10 Class ‘A’ gymnastics teams in the state at the ‘true team’ meet in Becker, Minn. Saturday.

“I am really happy with our performance this weekend because girls did everything I asked,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “They improved in all areas that we needed to focus on. While we did not manage a top three finish it was not due to our performance. Our performance was amazing, and it took three teams having great performances to move us down to fourth.”

“It was fun to be able to cheer for them this weekend and to have them cheering for us,” Raymond said. “The week long work out together is going to be an on going thing as we have already talked about getting the coaching staffed together again this summer.”

Austin sophomore Sela Fadness had the second best all-around score in the meet with a 37.850.

The Packers will host Owatonna in a matchup of the top two teams in the Big Nine Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA.
