Raymond C. Urlich, 95, of Austin, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Sacred Heart Care Center.
Ray was born March 26, 1916, in Austin to John and Anna (Schauls) Urlich. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1934 where he was on the football and basketball teams.
Ray served in the Army in the Pacific during World War II. He also worked for the Hormel Foods Corp. for more than 40 years. Ray was a kind and generous man. He always showed interest in the lives of his nephews and niece and their families.
Ray was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church and belonged to the American Legion and VFW for 67 years.
Survivors include nephews, James (Eunice) Urlick, Austin, Lawrence Urlick, Trenton, N.J., William (Marge) Urlick, Pipestone; niece, Ann (Gerald) Cook, Rochester; and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Francis; brothers, Leo and Donald.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 91.
The casket bearers will be Jim Urlick, John Urlick, Dan Urlick, Mike Urlick, Ryan Urlick, Joe Urlick.
