Gertrude Eleanor Stauffer, 92, of Austin, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Gertrude Eleanor Gaddy was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Wabasso, the daughter of James and Emma (Flaeter) Gaddy. She graduated from Comfrey High School, then she went to school for a telephone operator. In 1939 she married Robert Stauffer at Mason City, Iowa. They farmed at Delavan, for 10 years and at Montgomery, for 25 years. They moved to Austin and resided at 408 34th St. SW. Gert moved to The Cedars of Austin. Then she moved to St Mark’s Lutheran Home.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Rhonda Stauffer, Watertown, Minn.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Stauffer; two brothers, Donald and Everett Gaddy; one sister, Eulalia (Gaddy) Carroll.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at Mayer Funeral Home with Rev. Pam Aandahl Solberg officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Winnebago at a later date.
