Michelle “Mic” Pries, age 50, of Racine died Thursday night at her home following a 12 year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her friends and family.
Michelle was born July 27, 1961, in Rochester to Robert and Connie (Evenson) Skaran. She attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1979 and continued her education at Rochester Community and Technical College. Mic has been employed for 30 years as a nurse for the Mayo Clinic. She most recently has been in the Allergy and Immunization Department.
She was united in marriage to Terry Pries at the Bear Creek Lutheran Church on May 12, 1990, and together they had two sons; Travis and Tyler. Mic enjoyed fishing, stamping and crafts, traveling and vacations, supporting her friends and community, and most of all spending time with her family and watching her son’s sporting events.
She is survived by her husband: Terry “Bud” Pries, Racine; two sons; Travis and Tyler at home; her father Robert Skaran, Grand Meadow and a brother: Mark (Shelly) Skaran, Rochester. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law Darell and Sharon Pries, Sargeant, sisters and brother-in-laws Kristi (Randy) Maiers, Glenville, Tammie (Chris) Unverzagt, Byron, and Wendy (Brian) Landherr, Rose Creek, also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents.
Funeral services for Michelle Marie “Mic” Pries will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at the Bear Creek Lutheran Church with the Rev Shirley Redmond officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue at the church on Monday for 1 hr prior to the service.
