ROCHESTER — The Austin girls basketball team closed out its regular season with a 51-28 loss at Rochester John Marshall (11-15 overall, 8-10 Big Nine) Friday.
The Packers (10-15 overall, 7-11 Big Nine) shot 17 percent from the field and scored 10 points in the second half.
Austin had led through most of the first half until the Rockets hit a shot at the halftime buzzer to take the lead.
“We couldn’t get anything going in the second half,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “It seems like when we’re not scoring, our defensive intensity isn’t where we need it.”
Austin, which finished tied for seventh in the Big Nine, will open the Section 1A tournament Wednesday at 7 p.m.
