Packer gymnasts take first at Breck Invite

The Austin gymnastics team took first place at the 10-team Breck School Invite Saturday.

The Packers compiled a team score of 139.85 as they edged out Wayzata, which scored a 138.9.

“We had some real good competition and we didn’t have a great day, but we did OK,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “We had some problems on the vault and we’re still working on the bars.”

Austin will use the first two days of this week to rest up for the Big Nine meet, which will be held at Mankato West Saturday at noon.

“We’re trying to get everybody 100 percent,” Raymond said. “A couple of girls our hurting and it’s affecting their performance, so we’ll go light on Monday and Tuesday.”
