CALEDONIA — The Southland girls basketball team is now two wins from a Three Rivers Conference Title after it took care of Caledonia (17-8 overall, 14-4 Three Rivers) 54-47 on the road Tuesday.
The Rebels (21-2 overall, 15-2 Three Rivers) led 32-22 at the half and Caledonia got as close as two in the second half but never took the lead.
“We regrouped and slowly pulled away,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said.
Madi Schmitz, who had 21 points, and Kelli Smith, each hit two key free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
With one more win, Southland will clinch a share of the Three Rivers title and with two more wins the Rebels will take the conference crown outright.
