The People’s Quill: Greed

This was written in a time of despair which so many of us have been subject to in these economically troubled times. It is time that the tables are turned and the poor get some relief and consideration. I do doubt that this will be printed as it presents a controversial view but I am hoping it will be shared.
I think that I shall never see
a poem lovely as a tree.
Too bad the world just doesn’t care
and will not notice the trees are bare.
You see the world if full of Greed
and can’t see past to see the need.
People hungry, no place to live.
The Rich turn away, they won’t give.
The sadness seen in all the faces
all over the world, in all the places.
It’s time to turn the tables now.
To make the Rich see just how
it is to live from day to day
not sure just how to make your way.
I’d like to see them scrounge around
and make their beds upon the ground.
To watch others just walk past
not even a glance would they cast
upon their needy held out hand
or give them a lift to help them stand.
Oh, the Greed, it takes it’s toll
on every person, on every soul.
So sad to see the world this way
and pray that it will end some day.
I wish the Lord to come and say
“all the sorrows end today.”
Tomorrow will be a better day
and make the Greed go away.
