William John Slowter, 64

William John Slowter of Minnetonka, Minn., died Feb. 9, 2012. He was born Jan. 19, 1948, the son of Elizabeth Turner Slowter and Edward Eugene Slowter. He Married Kathy Jo Barnett (formerly of Austin) on Jan. 8, 1983. He is survived by his wife and their children: Jessica Louise Slowter (The Ohio State University 2009, Hamline law 2012) and Sarah Jo Slowter (The Ohio State University, 2013); and his sisters, Beth Tunick, New York, and Mary Nescott (Lew), Hamden, Conn., and his nephew, James Tunick (Carrie), New York, and his niece, Liz Tunick, Washington D.C.

Bill Slowter held two degrees from The Ohio State University, BFA, 1970 and MPA, 1977. He was active in alumni affairs and was a member of the local alumni club as well as the President’s Club where he established the Slowter Family Scholarship. After graduation, he worked briefly for the city of Columbus and The Ohio State University. Bill then joined Deloitte and transferred to the Minneapolis office in 1981. He also worked for the Carlson Marketing Group, Watson Wyatt and Organization Concepts before starting his own company, The Solution Exchange, in 1999.

Bill served in the Air Force and was a member of the Minnetonka United Methodist Church.

He was also active in a number of social and service organizations. Most recently, he was active with the Minnetonka Girls’ Lacrosse Booster Club, Winning for Life (girl’s lacrosse) and Camp Fire USA, Minnesota Council. He was also a member of the Lafayette Club and Burl Oaks Golf Club.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Lafayette Club, 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach, MN 55361.
