Wauneita Brindel, 90

Funeral services for Wauneita Helen Brindel, 90, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today from at Bonnerup Funeral Service as well as one hour prior to the service at church. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Wauneita was born on Nov. 30, 1921, in Freeborn County near Conger. The daughter of Clark and Daise (Kraushaar) Horde, she graduated from Alden High School and lived in Alden until moving to Albert Lea in 1941. On Oct. 8, 1942, she married Raymond Lunning. To this union three sons, Ronald, Gregory and Duane were born. Raymond died on Jan. 23, 1973. On Aug. 31, 1973, she married Marvin Joseph Brindel in Scarville, Iowa. Wauneita had worked at Miami Margarine which later became Holsum Foods. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Brindel of Albert Lea; three sons: Ronald Lunning of Glenville, Gregory (LeeAnn) Lunning of Blooming Prairie and Duane Lunning of Davenport, Iowa; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Erickson of Lake Mills, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Wauneita is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Raymond Lunning; granddaughter, Tonya Jean Lunning in 1971; sisters: Mary Lutz, Margaret Weaver and Edna Hansing; and a brother and sister in infancy.
