Council ready for coffee and discourse with residents

Austin City Council members will get the skinny straight from the source this Saturday.
The first “Coffee with the Council” will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Gymocha. Several city council members will meet with residents and discuss issues residents bring up.
“I think it’ll be great, because residents will be able to talk to the council,” said Mayor Tom Stiehm. “You can talk to them and you can answer them.”
The idea came earlier this year as council members discussed ways to reach out. Though council members may not be able to answer all questions, they will have a sign-up sheet so they can get back to residents with more complicated issues.
The council hopes to continue “Coffee with the Council” on the second Saturday of each month.
