August J. Schaub

Dr. Schaub was born and raised in South Dakota. As World War II began, August left his pre-professional studies to join the Army Air Force Pilot Training School. After graduation, he piloted heavy bombers until the end of the war. Dr. Schaub remained a private pilot for most of his life. After the War, August met Helen Mary Fay of Stephen, Minn. They soon married in 1946 and were not parted until his death 66 years later.

After attending Northwestern Chiropractic and Lincoln Chiropractic Colleges, Dr. Schaub and Helen moved to Austin, Minn., where he practiced for more than 40 years. During that time, Gov. Karl Rolvaag appointed Dr. Schaub to his first five-year term on the Minnesota State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and Gov. Wendel Anderson appointed him to his second. For three of those years, he served as the Board’s President. He was named South East Minnesota Chiropractor of the year three times, and Minnesota Chiropractor of the year in 1978. He also earned licenses in Iowa, Florida, Arizona, Nevada and Arkansas.
