LA CROSSE, WIS. – The Riverland baseball team split a doubleheader with Western Wisconsin Tech (14-7 overall) as they lost the opener 11-1 in six innings and won the nightcap 5-4.
The Blue Devils (18-7 overall) trailed the first game just 2-1 going into the sixth when starting pitcher Brady Klingfus ran out of gas.
“Brady was pitching great and then we just didn’t have a bullpen to relieve him,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “We’ve got four conference games coming up this weekend and we had to rest some guys.”
RCC sophomore Matt Boswell went two-for-four with a double and two RBIs in the nightcap.
