Melba C. Hall, 89, Austin

Melba “Mickie” C. Hall, 89, of Austin, Minn. died on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Thorne Crest Care Center in Albert Lea.

Mickie was born on July 21, 1922, in Buffalo, Minn. to Kenneth and Helen (Norgren) Newman. In 1928, Mickie and her family moved to Minneapolis where she graduated from West High School in 1940. After graduation, she attended the University of Minnesota’s Dental Hygienist program. Mickie married Richard Hall on Nov. 25, 1950, in Nashua, Iowa. Richard and Mickie made their home in Austin, then moved to Rochester, Minn. in 1988. They later returned to Austin.

Mickie was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, a member of the genealogy club and reading club. She was chairman of the American Revolution bicentennial.

Mickie is survived by her husband, Richard Hall, Austin; sister Mildred Tyhurst, Bryant, Ark.; sisters-in-law Delilah Newman, Lakeville, Minn.; and Florence Eaves, Galesburg, Ill.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Dr. Teri Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour before the service.

Memorials may be designated to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
