HAYFIELD — The Hayfield softball team couldn’t muster much offense as it lost 2-1 to Pine Island (3-2 overall, 3-2 HVL) in Hayfield Tuesday.

The Vikings (3-4 overall, 2-4 HVL) pulled to within 2-1 in the sixth inning when Hannah Wiltgen knocked in a run with a single, but Abby Blanchard was thrown out while trying to advance to third on a bobbled ball in center field.

PI scored its first run off a squeeze bunt and it’s second run off a Hayfield error.

Hayfield catcher Dani Wagner threw out two runners stealing and went one-for-two with a run and two steals.
