Southland and LeRoy/Ostrander Schools Superintendent Steve Sallee is one of two finalists for the Moose Lake Community Schools superintendent job.
The Moose Lake School board announced Sallee was one of four finalists for the job last week, and Sallee said Wednesday morning he is now one of two finalists.
“My wife and I both have family up in [that] area,” he said. “That was really my only motivation.”
Moose Lake is about 40 miles south of Duluth on Interstate 35.
Sallee has completed two interviews thus far with the Moose Lake board. Moose Lake officials will come to Southland and LeRoy/Ostrander Public Schools next week for visits.
The Moose Lake board is expected to make a decision by April 16, according to Sallee. The other person up for the job is Kimberly Belcastro, Ely Public Schools superintendent.
Sallee has 15 years of education experience, with eight years as a middle school physical education teacher and seven years as an administrator. Sallee has been in Southland for four years.
