It’s a festival at Oak Park Mall this Saturday, and everyone’s invited.

The third annual Taste of Nations takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21 as more than 1,000 people converge to enjoy food, music and festivities from cultures around the world represented in Austin.

“It’s a community collaboration,” said Jake Vela, executive director of the Welcome Center. The Welcome Center, along with Austin Public Schools, Austin’s Human Rights Commission, Riverland Community College and other organizations are coming together once again to give a forum for Austin’s various cultures.

New this year will be Sudanese music and dance, which Vela said is going to be a highlight of the year. Just For Kix is also scheduled to perform.

“There’s going to be a lot of diversity,” Vela said.

More than 20 nations will be represented this year.
