The Arc of Mower County is looking for a few quarters, 68,640 of them, to be exact.

For the second time in four years, the Arc of Mower County is holding its Mile of Quarters “A Foot for The Arc” fundraiser. From May 10 to Aug. 10, the Arc hopes to raise $17,160, which equals one mile of quarters.

“It’s something that we locally came up with,” said Jamey Helgeson, program director at Arc, and added the first fundraiser reached about half of the goal.

Funds will help the Arc pay for its scholarships, such as field trips, vacations and other services for the people who use its services.

For every $3.25 each person raises, he or she will purchase a foot in the campaign, or 10 feet for $32.50. Also, the Arc will list the names of people who donate to the event in the window at the Arc office.

Donations can be mailed or dropped off at The Arc of Mower County, 401 Second Ave. NE, Austin.
