BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Hayfield baseball team bounced back from a seventh inning letdown to beat Blooming Prairie 4-3 in eight innings Tuesday.
The Vikings (4-8 overall) led 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh when BP loaded the bases with two outs and Luke Hueman smashed a double down the left field line to score two runs and tie the game.
BP (2-9 overall) had runners on second and third with two outs but couldn’t score.
Hayfield took the lead for good when Drew Streightiff singled, stole second and scored on two BP throwing errors.
“We’ve got a young team and I’m glad we didn’t fold after they came back and tied the game,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.
BP freshman John Rumpza struck out five and allowed just two earned runs in eight innings of work.
“He pitched a great game and we just had a couple of errors that cost us,” BP head coach Paul Peterson said.
