Bernard Warmka, 97, Spring Valley

Bernard Warmka, 97, formerly of Spring Valley, Minn. died Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Inpatient Hospice in Mason City, Iowa.

Bernard was born May 25, 1914, in Easton, Minn. to John and Elizabeth (Kampsher) Warmka. He attended country school through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Mary Yankovich at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton on Jan. 21, 1936. Together they started farming in the Easton area, later moving to Spring Valley where they farmed for more than 50 years. Bernard was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic church in Spring Valley for over 50 years, he enjoyed rock hunting, polishing rocks, making jewelry and playing shuffle board.

He is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Harvey) Reutzel of Northwood, Iowa; daughter-in-law Doris (Garry) Sinnard of Forrest City, Iowa; son-in-law Randal Timmons of Edmonds, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Agnes Gottie and Anna Mae Auaer, both of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in September 2006, son Donald, daughter Kathleen, two brothers and three sisters.

The funeral Mass for Bernard H. Warmka will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley with Father Steve Peterson officiating. Burial will take place in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Easton at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
