HAYFIELD — The Hayfield baseball team lost to Cannon Falls (9-2 overall) 5-3 in a five inning, rain-shortened game in Hayfield Friday.
The Vikings (4-9 overall) took a 3-2 lead in the third inning, but Cannon Falls hit a two-out, two run double to take the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning.
“We were one out away from getting out of it,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said.
Hayfield still hasn’t lost a game by more than five runs, despite playing some bigger schools in the HVL.
“We keep playing well against good teams and hopefully we can get a win against one of them,” Krekling said.
