A high speed chase ended early Saturday morning when a Mower County Sheriff’s deputy slammed into the back of a Grand Meadow man’s car.

Josh Mallory, 21, of Grand Meadow, was cited for fleeing an officer in a vehicle, a felony, after the deputy chased Mallory and eventually slammed into the back of his Volvo sedan. According to the Sheriff, the deputy noticed Mallory’s vehicle going 25 in a 55 mph zone with no license plate light. The deputy followed Mallory on rural, gravel Grand Meadow roads at speeds near 80 miles per hour. Mallory at one point spun out and continued driving, and the officer missed a turn and went into the ditch.

The officer drove out of the ditch and continued looking for Mallory and slammed into the back of Mallory’s vehicle, which was parked on the road with its lights off. According to the Sheriff, Mallory tapped his brake lights, which the officer saw just before slamming into his vehicle. Neither men were injured. Mallory allegedly had marijuana with him.

Mallory was placed in the Mower County jail.
